Illustration Friday: Simple

The word "simple" made me think of sumi-e, Japanese painting. Sumi-e is a philosophical art style. The paintings are often monochromatic with simple, very thoughtful, and philosophical design. Balance is always important. Here, I tried to imitate the sumi-e styles by painting an "ayame" or Iris. The poorly written Kanji says, "hana" (flower -- my signature) and below in red “ayame.”

Very beautiful. I have always wanted to learn Sumi-e. I attempted something similar to Sumi-e in this illustration also.

This is so beautiful. Many of Japanese traditions are very simple.
Maybe you know about it more than me.
The kanji looks great and matches with the ayame very well.

See I was right, it is really good. I'm not even the first to post a comment.
